We ascertain structure and dynamics of condensed matter, including simple liquids, soft matter, as well as crystalline and amorphous solids. Goal of our studies is to gain a complete understanding of macroscopic behaviors based on the microscopic structures and dynamics.
Can the mystery of the anomalies of water be unraveled? What relevance do interfaces in nanostructured matter have? What exactly happens during the transport of ions in materials for lithium batteries and fuel cells? These are examples of our scientific problems which we try to solve with a combination of state-of-the-art experimental and computational methods.
