My PhD-Project covers solid water in various high pressure forms. I am mainly interested in the dynamical properties of the amorphous and crystalline ices at low temperature. We use deuteron NMR, i.e. spin-lattice relaxation-measurements and stimulated echo-experiments to study our samples. In particular the stimulated echo-method is a very powerful tool to investigate in detail the reorientation dynamics of the water molecules in timescales of sub-ms to beyond seconds. The spin-lattice relaxation-time T1 can be used as a monitor parameter to distinguish the different forms of ice and to study the phase transitions between them at ambient pressure.
